Philip Seymour Hoffman made movies worth seeing

This is one of the few times I’ll stray from my routine to comment on something other than music. Film lovers lost a giant today: Philip Seymour Hoffman, who reportedly died of a drug overdose. He was 46.

An integral part of the movies made by Paul Thomas Anderson, Hoffman had such incredible range. Anderson is one of the very best filmmakers of our time and he recognized early on, beginning with Hard Eight, that Hoffman was a brilliant actor. Here are a few clips from great collaborations of two creative geniuses.
