Killer Mike, the Smile, MJ Lenderman top the best sets at Pitchfork fest

Afternoon sets by Killer Mike and MJ Lenderman and Friday’s headline slot with the Smile were the best shows I saw at the three-day Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago this year.

Killer Mike played Sunday showcasing his new solo album. He was backed by his Midnight Revival Choir who took the stage just before he came out.

Lenderman put on an excellent show Saturday afternoon.

The Smile was a spectacle that lived up to expectations.

Other good sets this past weekend include Perfume Genius, Deeper, Black Belt Eagle Scout, Alvvays and Jockstrap.

Chicago’s Deeper opened the day on Saturday.

Black Belt Eagle Scout played after the first weather delay Saturday.
