J. Mascis’ hair is white and his beard is gray but this new song, Tiny, from Dinosaur Jr. really smokes.
The song is a track on the upcoming album Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not and it’s performed by the original lineup (Lou and Murph are still hanging in there).
Watch Tiny performed live on Jools Holland. The album comes out in August.
Watch Henry Rollins plug the new Dinosaur album.
Dinosaur Jr. is scheduled to play Chicago’s Metro in October.
Here’s a video for another irresistibly good pop song, No Matter Where We Go, from Chicago band Whitney.
Theses guys emerged after the Smith Westerns disbanded.
The debut album, Light Upon the Lake, is set for a June 3 release.
This new song from Jenny Hval, Female Vampire, is pretty good.
Hval has a new album, Blood Bitch, coming out at the end of September.
There was a time when Pylon was much bigger than R.E.M. — at least in Athens, Georgia, where both bands ruled.
Pylon, an excellent punk and dance band, seemed destined for great things but the group called it quits in the early 1980s.
If you’ve never heard these guys, they’re very much worth checking out, especially if you’re a fan of the early ’80s alternative sound.
Recently unearthed live recordings of the last Pylon show in Athens is being released in July.
Check out the song Volume.
Ty Segall’s Emotional Mugger is among the most fun and entertaining albums I’ve heard this year.
The video for the album track Candy Sam, made by Segall himself, is pretty odd. But that’s sort of to be expected with Segall.
Cass McCombs just shared Opposite House, a song off his upcoming new album.
The album, Mangy Love, is expected out August 26.
Steve Gunn releases his new album Eyes on the Lines June 3.
Check out the just-released song Park Bench Smile now.
I’m a big fan of Mourn’s self-titled debut album from 2014.
The Barcelona band is following up with its second record, Ha, Ha, He, which is set for a June 3 release.
Listen to a track, Second Sage, from the album.
Hollowtapes is 21-year-old Francis Shannon of Chicago and his music straddles dream pop, psychedelia and noise.
The easiest comparison I can make, in terms of musical style, is Bradford Cox.
Check out Shannon’s four-song EP, Tall, which is out Friday. It’s definitely worth a listen.

The new Holy Fuck album is 10 days from release, but you can enjoy another cool new video from these guys now.
This one, for the song Xed Eyes, was made by the multi-talented Chad VanGaalen.
The album Congrats is out May 27.
